If one was to put together a wish list for a high end loudspeaker, it may look a little like this:
Viewed individually, any of the above goals would be a sizeable challenge. However, when viewed as a whole the true nature of the challenge becomes apparent. Despite the difficulty, our passion for audio and desire to meet the above goals led to five years of intense development. We are therefore proud to present the result - the all Australian designed and built SGR MT3 floorstander.
The major obstacle encountered was the lack of off-the-shelf drivers that met our high expectations. Finding a bass driver that would work down to 20Hz in a relatively small sealed enclosure proved impossible, so we designed and built our own. Years of research realised our infamous 10" woofer. Combined with our intricate interlocking bracing system and complex cabinet construction, these woofers form what we like to call our strong foundation. Sealed vs ported? No competition - sealed really is a quantum leap forward!

Designed & manufactured in Australia.
With the MT series, the majority of construction is done by hand and the high-gloss 2-pack finish is built up to 30 layers over multiple weeks with ultra fine sanding in between each layer. Build time is 5-8 weeks per pair and we only build 8-10 pairs per year.
Drivers
- Scan Speak Revelator ring-radiator tweeter, low distortion and power compression with a bandwidth out to 40Khz
- 5" paper cone midrange with FEA optimised magnetics achieving perfect flux symmetry.
- 10" long-throw, low-distortion paper cone woofers optimised for sealed box use. FEA optimised magnetics and cone profile. Purpose designed and custom built.
Bass Enclosure
- Double constrained layer damped construction consisting of dual marine plywood internal walls with a high-density external polymer skin.
- Extensive interlocking bracing system, marine ply.
- Internally treated with SGR Selective MemBrane (SMB) technology to eliminate standing waves and box induced colorations.
- Seamless construction technique with no visible join lines. Remains stable over time.
- Magnetically attached grille.
- Custom made marine grade stainless steel spikes with level adjustment and locking nut.
Mid-Hi Enclosure
- Stacked layer highly-damped marine plywood internal structure with a high-density external polymer skin.
- Floating front baffle isolated from the enclosure and mounted with shock-mounts. No mechanical connection between the drivers and the enclosure walls.
- Internally treated with SGR Selective MemBrane (SMB) technology to eliminate standing waves and box induced colorations.
- Seamless construction technique with no visible join lines. Remains stable over time.
- Sorbothane based dual layer isolation system stops bass enclosure vibrations from modulating the midrange output.
- Magnetically attached grille.
- Custom made marine grade stainless steel spikes with level adjustment and locking nut (smaller version of bass enclosure spikes) Triangular spike arrangement allows easy tilting of the MT head unit.
Electronics
- The MT3F's are an active loudspeaker requiring an electronic crossover and 6 channels of amplification.
- Crossover circuitry designed using ultra-low noise and distortion components and values were calculated using the latest computer based optimisation programs.
- Amplification is provided by the Elite series ELs stereo units or ELm monoblocks. See options tab for more details.
